State

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

The Ohio Department of Development has enacted this program to help low-income Ohioans pay their winter utility bills. Households may be eligible for assistance from HEAP if their income is at or less than 175% of the federal poverty guidelines. If you are eligible, the amount of your benefit will depend on federal funding levels, the number of people who live with you, your total household income, and the primary fuel you use to heat your home. In most cases, benefits will be applied as a credit on your energy bill. Emergency HEAP may also be available.

For more information contact the Ohio Department of Development at: 800-282-0880 or online at www.odod.state.oh.us/cdd/ocs/heap.htm
