  • Assisted in bringing a Nazi submarine into Lake Michigan for permanent display adjacent to the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry
  • Worked with the Ohio Adjutant General to obtain a 200-bed Field Hospital for the Canton area for use during a disaster
  • Developed and practiced "Fire, Safety, Disaster and Evacuation Plans" that utilized boy and girl scouts to role play as casualties; one scenario simulated a nuclear explosion that earned a letter of commendation from President Eisenhower
