Anna K. Beall

Anna Beall served honorably as an Army nurse in the Pacific Theater during World War II. She returned home and began a long career at the Dayton Mental Health Center, retiring in 1983. Anna continued to serve her community through volunteerism, and was honored in April 2013 for 30 consecutive years of service at Hospice of Dayton. During those years, she provided respite to caregivers so that they could tend to errands as well as comfort to the patients and their families. Each year she gives a talk to students at Stivers School in Dayton about service to country and her own military service, keeping alive the memory of veterans of all generations. Anna has volunteered at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force as a tour guide. She is also a volunteer with the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress, encouraging other veterans to record their military experiences for future generations. In addition, she holds memberships in Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2800 and American Legion Post 598 in Dayton and is active in service with both. At 90 years of age, Anna Beall continues to serve her community and fellow veterans.
