Doris M. Powell

Ms. Powell was an active member of several veterans service organizations, including the American Legion Post #24 and the American Legion Unit #24 Auxiliary. She also was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post # 4713. Doris was one of the first women to join into the local VFW, having served on active duty during World War II. She was very active in each of these organizations and volunteered her services on various committees to support veterans. Doris also was involved in numerous civic and fraternal organizations. Her tireless efforts and hard work constantly demonstrated her dedication to and support of the citizens of Morgan County. For 22 years, Ms. Powell was a member of the Morgan Local School Board, where she served seven years as president and five years as vice-president. She was a past president and active member of the Morgan Lady Shrine Club, a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women, and a member of the Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. As a veteran, she set an example for others to follow by her patriotism and loyalty to her country.
