Wanda J. Dillard

Wanda is an accomplished executive with experience in Community Engagement and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She found her calling in a career path that includes the perfect merger of health care access and direct engagement with marginalized communities. At Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, as Director of Community Development, she demonstrated success in overseeing operations that support all facets of community engagement and development. Shifting our health care system and dismantling systemic racism is Wanda’s mission. She embraces work that focuses on education, philanthropy, women’s equity and marginalized people of color. She has a proven track record of successfully cultivating relationships with stakeholders, community members and organizations, as well as local and federal agencies. She serves on multiple not-for-profit boards, task forces and business associations. Wanda routinely provides counsel to local and national healthcare organizations. Wanda has had a stellar military career, spanning from her time as a private to an officer. She is a member of the Women’s Army Corps, a Company Commander for the 684th Medical Company and Project Officer for Guard Care, providing healthcare to Ohio residents. She was instrumental in the Ohio National Guard, working with the Atlanta Buffalo Soldiers to recreate the historical ride of Col. Charles Young from Wilberforce Ohio to Washington, D.C. A retired Major of the Army National Guard with a lifetime and award-winning record of service, commitment and achievement, Wanda enters the Class of 2021 Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame at age 68.
